Many of us are working from home in response to COVID-19. In this time of uncertainty, we’re calling out 6 simple ways managers can maintain connectedness and boost morale across their teams.
Host a daily team chat
Schedule a virtual meeting with your team to start the day. Even if it’s just a quick 5-minute check-in to see everyone, it can go a long way to reduce loneliness and stay connected!
Eat lunch together, or have a happy hour
During this time of social distancing, we can still maintain connectedness with our coworkers like we would in the office. Start a Google Hangout at lunchtime and invite others to join, or virtually meet up at 4pm for a happy hour.
Be considerate of parents
With schools closed, that means parents are balancing working from home and taking care of their kids. If employees have children at home during this time, be patient with their availability. Try to keep meetings short, or schedule them during nap time.
Continue to provide a great culture for your team
Your office has snacks and amenities to go around, so why not continue to provide these items while quarantined? From snacks to second monitors, OfficeLuv customers can take a peek at our Work From Home Essentials, and reach out to email@example.com for details on how to get started.
Communicate, communicate, communicate
It’s easy to feel siloed when working from home. Being clear with communication can help make sure everyone is on the same page. Using status settings on Slack to let others know when you’re on a call can help set expectations around response times. Be prompt to meetings, or give a heads up if something has come up. Without being able to physically see each other, it’s important to fill in with thorough communication instead.
Stay connected throughout the day
Make a group playlist that you can all listen to, share pictures of your workstations or your pets, send an uplifting meme every once in a while. During these stressful times, a small gesture in the spirit of bringing people together can go a long way.
